PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN RETIREMENT SCHEMES MANAGEMENT IN COLLABORATION WITH THE HONG KONG RETIREMENT SCHEMES ASSOCIATION

HKU SPACE is pleased to offer a series of programmes in retirement schemes management in collaboration with the Hong Kong Retirement Schemes Association (HKRSA) to help enhance the knowledge, skills and professionalism of practitioners in the retirement planning and management industry. The Professional Diploma in Retirement Schemes Management will appeal to practitioners such as intermediaries, fund managers, scheme administrators, trustees, human resources personnel, consultants, regulators, accountants and actuaries. This programme is designed to provide comprehensive coverage of major topics in retirement planning and management in order to upgrade the standard of practice in the industry.

PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA IN RETIREMENT SCHEMES MANAGEMENT

For students entering directly, the programme of study is as follows:

Number of Modules:

6 modules

Number of Contact Hours:

216 total hours. Each module consists of 36 hours - 11 3-hour teaching sessions followed by a 3 hour examination

Duration:

Approximately 1 year assuming students take 2 modules per semester.
(3 semesters per year)

Entry Requirements:

Students must satisfy:

a minimum of 5 passes in the HKCEE including English and Mathematics or equivalent; and one A-level pass or two AS level passes in any subject or equivalent post-secondary qualifications; a minimum of 2 years of working experience.

DELIVERY

The modules will be delivered in part-time face-to-face mode. Teaching will be done through lectures, tutorials, seminars, computer aided learning, classroom simulations, problem based learning and case study discussions. These sessions will be held on weekday evenings and on weekends.

ASSESSMENT AND AWARD

The assessment for each module consists of 40% coursework and 60% final examination. Students must also attend 70% of the lectures to obtain a passing grade. Both awards will be jointly issued by HKRSA and HKU SPACE.

PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION

Graduates will be eligible to join HKRSA as Affiliate Members. Graduates of the Professional Diploma who have one year's relevant working experience will be eligible to join HKRSA as Associate Members. The MPFA will recognize 3 modules in the Professional Certificate for CPD credits.

PROGRESSION ROUTES

The Professional Diploma programme will articulate to Napier University's BA (Hons) in Financial Services, the University of Michigan-Dearborn's MSc in Finance and the University of London's MSc in Financial Management.
