Welcome

Welcome to the new website of The Hong Kong Retirement Schemes Association.

The Hong Kong Retirement Schemes Association (HKRSA) was established in 1996 to promote the interests and best practices of retirement schemes in Hong Kong including provident and pooled retirement funds. The HKRSA is a not-for-profit, non-political association, which represents retirement schemes and their members, providing a forum for discussion of issues of current and topical interest.

News Update

Report: “The Future of the MPF System – Review and Recommendations”

We announced the impending release or this report in our last newsletter.  This followed the HKRSA’sWorking Group made up of a cross section of HKRSA members to review the MPF system, with input also from other stakeholders.  It has been released to the Government and other relevant parties late last year.  It is available for download from the HKRSA website.

The $6,000 Government payout…and subsequent publicity on MPF and retirement protection

The budget announcement and subsequent adjustment to the original arrangement to pay the $6,000 into MPF accounts instead, i.e. directly to all permanent Hong Kong residents, has lead to further debate about MPF and the issue of whether Hong Kong should have a universal pension system.  See one such report attached in relation to a question and answer in Legco on 16 March re this matter.
